i was thinking if changing to a much more powerful pump will do the job. You will need sufficient flow to push the film back to the overflow compartment, in my opinon, will require a 300l/hr pump to do so. Remove the top plastic piece in the overflow compartment will helps, and cutting the black sponge into half helps with the flow too. I used to own one of this but find that it's too small for my liking and the fact that film appeared despite all measures to prevent it.
The role of master and servant begin to cloud in the water..

Water flowing into the overflow is slower as i need to maintain high water level for the ice probe.

I modify the eden 501 rainbar abit to fit in my tank and direct the flow upwards to break the water surface. Hopefully this works. I like this tank sleek design and challenge myself to make it work.

Sometimes i think to myself the investment i had for this tank is

2 holes on the transparent pipe direct flow upwards to break water surface, flat nozzle at the end direct flow around the tank.

I remove the golden nana from the branch to make it look more natural.

The front fissiden slope towards the cliff like DW behind.

Sorry for the poor photo. Taken with hp cam.

If you have observed the side of the slits, you will noticed that only a very slow stream of water slipping into the overflow compartment. That's not enough to bring the surface scum into the sponge. You could get just another mini dymax pump and set it up in pump compartment, link it up and get a better flow.

[QUOTE=PaperCut;549568]Hi, sorry for the late response. Been busy with work and was having flu

The fissiden was quite lush and green when i first got them. after 2 weeks, they are still the same. I have been dosing excel daily and seachem flourish weekly. With the iceprobe maintaining my temp at 24.5degree. Weekly WC of 30%.

Now reduce excel to dosing on alternate days and took out the overflow pump and replace with a Eden 501 small canister filter as protein film start building up on my water surface. [/QUOTE

hey bros just some advice on fissidens and excel from personal experience. I am not sure if excel actually helps fissidens to grow, but if you squirt excel directly on the fissdens, they will turn brown. its kind of a similar effect of excel on algae. i think this is maybe because fissdens are quite closely related to algae.
