I think they can be the wrigglers but why is it a problem that you water is good and your fish are breeding?
Erm, it seems that both my pairs of rams are breeding now. First couple layed their eggs three days ago (the other couple two days ago) and are guarding them pretty well even from the bigger n. anomala male.
I need to ask you guys now, that what does it mean because the eggs have some kind of "tail", it's not a tail literally, but it's like something "grows" from the eggs. It's like really thin hair on them.
I hope it's not something bad.. I hope they are the wigglers, I read somewhere that wigglers appear few days after laying eggs but there is no clear photo available of them.
If it is the wigglers then I'm going to be in trouble with this baby fish, because n. anomala has fry free-swimming (?, they are swimming under their mother's belly..) and now both pair of rams are breeding...

Well I read somewhere that white "hair" it could have been mould.. though they said mould would be possible in warmer water (tank's temperature is 24,5 C because that damn heater is propably broken, I'll be able to get new next week).
The eggs disappeared last night, either the eggs weren't fertile and the parents ate them or they removed fry somewhere hiding. Can't say for sure..
Well, they will spawn soon again, maybe one day they'll have their fry.![]()
The frys of the RAM are very small, in a brood, they can be mistaken as dirt in the tank. If you see the pair always at one location (like guiding the place), it may be the frys in that area..

Okay.. Hope there is some fry, though they are staying almost the same place where they laid their eggs.
Well, time will show if there is any fry. Luckily I have another fry (N. Anomalas), so possible ram fry will get food which I give to anomala fry (20 babies!). It is small enough to feed both of them their first weeks after hatching.

The eggs should be shifted to other location, my ram just laid eggs a week ago, they will shift the eggs when they turn darker then will shift again when the eggs develop 2 black dots (i think its the eyes) and when they start to develop wrigglers with movement like vibrating then once again shift them to other location. Look around at the dark area in your tank they could be there.
Okay. Good to know. I'm getting 4 more rams later in this or next month, it seems that I have now two males or females. I won't expect fry from them for a while, because I'm just having another anomala fry! I saw few dozen of eggs today.. (And I've done absolutely nothing to breed them..)
just to try my luck alittle. Do you have female german rams to spare or to trade?
I'm sorry, I don't send fish abroad, unfortunately. I trade only in my country, preferably near my homecity. My local petshopkeepers takes my fry when they are old enough. I haven't had a luck to get any ram fry to survive. Thanks for asking anyway.
From weekend on, I'll be concentrating only in rams, hope they will finally spawn succesfully when acaras move out to a new home. Today I finally got my new rams - now they are in guarantee-tank. 5 rams moved in, one is waiting in their final tank.
Btw, what would be nice and calm surface fish with rams? Since the acaras will move out, it would be nice to get some populace in surface. Rams tend to stay at the middle and the bottom. Please, give me latin names so that makes my investigations easier.Thanx!
