I agree with Alan: Your shrimps have the genetic disposal for Wine Red. Congrats!

hmm... it is not necessary to appear that red if has wine red genes. Moreover Nasty in MSN told me the intensified color appeared only these few days, so not genotype.

Does not look like wine red as it does not have red legs. Wine red has no maro so far.

Maybe a clearer picture will help.

oh...... these color.... i think saw before.... the brown ones, when they grow big it will be reddish brown crs, is unique.

If these are bred in your tank and carry WR genes and you have 10 pieces of such, you will have, statistically 5 wine red.

Re: Weird coloration to my Crs

Very beautiful! Personally I feel it could be a late expression of genotype, but no one can be exactly sure. If it's due to the food, or environmental changes we should see a batch-wide change. Yet again, phenotypic expressions still require the presence of the correct genotype + an environmental stressor.

Why not use these two pieces and do some selective breeding, who knows you'll get many Red Wines in the future!

Are the darkening of color spread to more shrimps, then not necessary a good thing, it maybe the once spreading Black Spots Disease in other part of the world.

There are 2 got this so far in Singapore.

Re: Weird coloration to my Crs

And the above two cases mentioned by bro Silane are of mosura grades. Maybe interbreeding cause them to be susceptible to such disease due to weakening of genetics.

Hopefully it's not like the disease that almost wiped out the guppies.

Re: Weird coloration to my Crs

    hi bro,

i have the same problem for a batch of new sss from a bro here stayed in jurong west.

i bought 10 from him and now left about 5. and the color super dark. sometime look like black color. some of my other crs also get affected and about 5 of them gone. 2 pcs day by day.. not sure what i can do.

    water parameter very good:
    GH:6
    KH:4
    PH:6.8

no copper.. nitrate nitrite all in good range.

so my conclusion is this is diseases
