Found out that my USF starting to turn brown, and like alot of brown things sticking on it.. is the leaves rotting or some alegea problem?
hi bro, the problem seems to be inadequate nutrients and ferts in the tank. you can try to dose more and see if it helps..

what could have cause this?
What should i do or how can i prevent it?
kill it by blasting it with some Excel (spot dose it). but that will not solve the root problem.
may i know how to spot dose Excel? does it mean taking it out of the tank and applying excel? and transfer to another tank?
sorry am also facing browning Fissidens
1) use toothbrush to visible algae if can.
2) Get a pipette or a 50cent syringe and draw about 1-2 ml of excel. Turn off your filter so the water is calm then aim your weapon directly at the wretched algae (1i-2cm away) and blast it. Go to bed, wake up next day and most probably the algae is whitish and dead. You can read up more about this from old threads.

but i've got CRS inside my tank, can i still do this?
is your light too strong? perhaps can list your tank specs than more pro Bros here can give you some advice.

1-2ml should be ok (in total). Don't put more than that because your tank quite small. can try once then observe for any stress on your CRS. then next morning observe again. Just an advice =) but of course if you are really scared you can do a small test. Spot dose like 0.5ml on a small patch (with no CRS loitering around) and you see if there are any changes to that patch the next day. Would like to know how it turns out too!
the wood and the shrimp shelter they grow quite fast at first.. but once they reach the length... all stop growing...

not sure if it died, crossing fingers new leaves will sprout.
I'm afraid is it that my lights not enough for the plants?
Or is there not enough CO2 which result to alegea or the USF not growing well..
was wondering during the morning time, the sun will shine in my tank.
will this be the cause of all the problems that my USF are facing?

i wonder can it adapt to tank without co2, just like my case.
i do know that strike a balance of light, co2 and chiller is best but anyone can share their experience on the minimum requirement to keep this plant green
excel will kill algae as well as your Us fissiden
Light & CO2 are the 2 main contributor to USF grow rate, temperature below 28 should be ok. Excel spot dose not suitable for Fissidens & some moss, infact excessive dosing can kill them. I had 3 DW tied with USF in 3 different tanks at the same time (about 3 weeks).
2Ft tank with 48W T5HO, presurized CO2 & temperature 25.5-27, USF grow very fast & green.
1FT tank with 18W PL, weekly Excel dosage & temperature around 27-28, USF grow slower but still green & healthy.
1Ft tank with Clip on LED light (low brightness), weekly Excel dosage & temperature around 27.5-28, USF grow very slowly (still growing), not so green & some portion turned brown.
