Yes, these tank run hot as they are an enclosed tank. Even if you opened the flap, they still would trap heat in the tank. Some of them would have built in overflow system.
Hi!
I'm very new to this forum and I'm thinking of starting a 1ft tank for small fishes or shrimp. I was hoping to get a all in one compact kind of design for my tank since I don't have much space.
Some of the tanks I came across are from makers like Jebo, Juwel etc. I would just like to check with you guys if such tanks with built in lights and hood generate too much heat for the water for fish/shrimps to be comfortable in.
Do such tanks also come with in built overflow systems? I would like such a design as I find having a HOF with a surface skimmer kind of obstrusive in a tank.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions in advance!

If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.
I am running 1 something like that by hailea. Mainly the heat comes from the light, though ive seen somewhere in this forum a member modded the hood.
i have one set too, it is hot! so i removed the internal filter system and the light hood, ie just the tank survive now! connect with a 2211 and a light set.![]()
Thanks for the advice! Guess it's better to just get a normal tank to avoid potential heat problems then.
For the hailea tank, most of the heat comes from the internal pump. The water is a good 30 plus degrees. After I changed that internal pump with an airstone to power the undergravel filter, the water temperature is much lower now.
@keigo
Hmm really? I always thought it was from the light.
both light and internal pump can be the heat source
Mine also..i got rid of the Hood too.
Filter like a 3000W vacuum cleaner and with the lightings heat is trapped and now way you can put in a fan...my tetra was boiling in 31 celcius.
The Filter is the cause also when in day time i off the lights the water is also as hot.
Besides mine gave me little access to the surface of the tank.
Now just force a PL and self mod fan mount on to the tank plastic rim.
