Survey on Base Fertilizer and Glass Wall Algae

I am trying to determine whether base fert contributes to algae glowth on the glass walls. May I know how often you have to clean your glass walls to keep it clean/haze-free and what base fetilizer you are using? Please reply this way:

Clean glass walls: at least once a week/once a week/once every 2 weeks or longer
Base fertlizer used: brand

algae (esp the green spots) growth on glass is highly affected by your lighting, so you need to take that into consideration to have a meaningful study. E.g. I use PL lights and the two side glass is quite dim, I never have algae on the two sides, only on the front and back.

For what's worth, cleaning of algae on glass, once per week sometimes per fortnight, JBL base fert.

glass cleaning: once every 2 weeks depending on whether I'm actually looking.. the number of spots are usually very few..

Normal ways of running a planted tank is not going to help you on your findings. You would need a tank with just base fertilizer with no gravel topoff coupled with plants and consistent nutrient dosing to ensure that they do not interfere with the findings. (Stirring up of matured base fertilizer while doing some major uprooting job coupled with no water changes causes algae? Why? Ammonia might well be the culprit...)

Yes, I also realise lighting period plays a part.

For my case:

Cleaning: Once a week to clear haze (I have no spot algae for past nearly 4 years)
Base fert: all laterite base, combination of Dupla & JBL

frankly, green spot has nothing to do with basefert.
more to do with lighting.

go examine unplanted tanks that have weak lighting. you're more apt to get brown smear rather than green spot.

hmm, my tank dont really have a problem with those irritating wall algae, cept that the water is abit AMAZON brown, [] haha.

Cleaning of tank's wall: once every 2-3 weeks
Base fert: JBL with TMG dosing
Lighting: 9-10 hrs

Anyway the area i clean is e front of tank and e side facing the sun. Guess the sunlight plays a part too.
