A phone card would do the trick...no need to waste any money plus the risk of scratching the tank.
Hi
Me has some small green spot algae on the glass of my tank.
From the information that I had gather from thekrib website. I knew that these type of algae is normal for strong light planted tank and it can be removed by using a razor.
However, since my tank is curve, using a razor doesn't seem to be a good idea. Hence i thought of buying those surface magnetic scrub.
But some people said that these type of srub is not good enough to remove these type of algae and may even scratch the tank.
Can anyone tell me if it is true. Thks![]()

yah... I use a green dishwashing wool to removed the greenspot, those magnetic glass cleaner prove totally useless against the spotty Algae...

Be careful. A new piece of green wool can leave scratches on the glass. If you want to use green wool, make sure it's a seasoned piece of wool.

Lim,
I beg to differ... I've used the magnetic scrubber for my tank extensively removing those green spot quite effectively. However, for thicker glass tanks, these scrubbers are not advisable.
Peter's suggestion of using a phonecard would be best.
I used a super seasoned green wool....but still notice scratches. Some say branded stuff won't like 3M, but too costly.----------------

I agree a plastic phone card is a good idea.
Hi sherchoo
Why can't thick glass use it? Err.. when you said thick, how thick is your thick?
And what is the brand that you are using because I heard that some brands may actually scratch the glass of the tank? I heard that from a local petshop that aquatool is the best.
Me had tried the phone card and the result is good but i end up having my arms and hands together wet. Me is thinking of the magnetic srub cause i can clean the wall anytime as and when i wish.
