Mr Simon, I see your 1ft cube very stylo... Can take a look at my 14inch mini tank? Recommend some improvement? I have planted the following plants(Gift for my Mum):

Xmoss, Rotala indica, MM, Glosso, Dwarf Sags, Vallisneria Tortisma (Cockscrew), Hydrocotyle leucocephala, Eichornia Diversifolia, Mayaca fluviatilis

recent addition (not in pics):
Echinodorus parviflorus 'tropica' {plantlet}, Microsorum pteropus 'Windeløv'


Normal gravel (1-2mm grain), 1cm (front) slop to 5cm (rear),
JBL fert ball is used,
internal filter,
DIY CO2 via Ceranic Stone diffuser,
11W light (increasing to 24W PL soon) 12hrs,
Fert: Iron + TE, KSO4, MgSO4.

Zero Bio load, planing:
a pair of Ballon Ram
few Oto (is it suitable?)

No Algae problem at the moment, some Snails spotted only.

think for your tank, what's missing is a focus point, something noticable, which can be a plant/driftwood. Perharps you like to shift the plants to one side of the tank, creating a invisible triangular slope.. to add depth, simply add plants with different heights from the foreground to the back

Your tank Tonina Sp looks beautiful, what KH you keep? Learnt from others that KH must be rather low for it to grow well for long. How true? Just curious.

naturetan, my kH is around 4-5, pH is 6.8
