No, that's not me, I'm the ugly guy in the blue/black shirt. This is in Florida, USA. Sagittaria kurziana, Valliseneria americana, Myriophyllum heterophyllum, Chara, Fontenalis, Pennywort: H. umbrellata, hornwort, Bacopa caroliniana, Crinum americana, Lugwigia repens, Nymphaea ordorata, Pistia, Saururus cernuus, etc.
Mainly Sag and Val beds with fair amounts of Chara.
But the water is much clearer than you can tell with the photo's. Rainbow river has some Crypts and is typically clearer than Ichetucknee since there are less people disturbing the substrate and Rainbow is a bigger spring. Around 750 a day go down at the head springs of the Ichetucknee river, 2000-3000 at the midway point 3 miles down stream come each weekend. This is the park limit on the numbers of people allowed down the river.
More, well actually the amount right now is too much for the resource to handle and it will decline. They have limited it but it's likely not enough. My site is Blue hole on this river and it's closed due to overuse. It's over 10 meters deep and produces a lot of flow out of the shaft.
No, that's not a crypt or a C. helferi.

just to show how bad I'm at IDing plants...[]
I'm amazed at how rich the plant life are in Florida, I can only think of the Sarawak's Matang National Parks(been there last year) if we want to see something similar.![]()

Wow....[:0] ..awaiting more stuff to come. []
Plant Physiology by Taiz and Zeiger
The water is much clearer than the photo's show even with all the people going down the river disturbing the substrate.
The Rainbow river was very nice.
Both this river and the Rainbow are hard clear water(KH about 7,m GH about 10) rivers. The pH's run in the 6.5-7.2 range. The Suwanee has clear tannic pools, the Santa Fe River at Rum Island has flowing blackwater, it's very red in color and you can see about 60-70cm. KH is 0 and the GH is also 0. pH's run down in the 4-5's.
Lots of fish, otter, a large gator at Rum Island etc. It's not so much an issue of species, but the experience of going down a gaint planted clear river full of plants as the vals and sag's waft and undulate with the current(About 2km/hr).

Tom,
Thank you sharing, nice pics, sharp. What is your camera model?
The place reminds me of a short river in North Island, New Zealand, where I was there for a 5 weeks business trip last year's Summer. Beutifully clear water, serene forest at the banks. I hope to go back there again. Your pics bring back the memories...![]()

If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.
Mohamad Rohaizal is my name. If it's too hard, use BFG. I don't mind.

More pics are up of the other locations!
Enjoy!
