can eheim 2211 be placed at the same level as tank?

hi,

i'm keen to get an eheim 2211 but i'd seen the manual online and it recommends that it has to be 10cm below the tank or even lower. its not quite possible in my current setup as i have no place to create a '10cm step down' for it nor can i place it anywhere lower.

so i'm just wondering if there's anyone of u who places it next to the tank at the same level? if so will there be any issues?

hows the performance of the 2211? i'm using it for my 30l. should be getting just some tetras and shrimps...nothing else. any advice?

i'm using 2211 for my 1ft tank and i place it just beside my tank, cant follow the instruction too, so the motor portion of 2211 is in fact slight above my tank! however it has been running fine for close to one year now.

jimmy: how long are the spray n inlet pipes? did you have to cut them to fit into your tank? can show me a picture of how you set up? i am also concern if the 'hook' inlet pipe is wide enough to slot onto the top of my tank as it has a 3-3.5 cm border running at the top's edge. can advise? thanks!!

i'm not using the spray bar at all, did cut it to size but find it is creating unwanted current inside the tank. i will try to take a pic of my setup. don't quite understand what you mean by the inlet pipe portion.

yah yah this is the hook thingy i was referring to.
i'd like to know whats the space between the hook because my tank's top has a 3-3.5 cm frame running along it. need to know if the hook would fit.

ok. may i know what is the brand of the tank? usually with tanks like 5plan or Nisso, the pipe will have no trouble fitting

i'm using an all-in-one right now hence its got this frame (a qianhu's classical paradom 30l) but the top trickle filter is really crap, not working well and making loud hums. hence i'm replacing it with an external canister. the tank's height is approx 30 cm.

oic, i didnt use this hook or U pipe at all.

i cant seem to find my old setup in any of my pictures, only took my tank itself, haha... previous the 2211 is placed on a higher platform. anyway i can only show you my current setup, just shifted it and setup last week, the top of the 2211 is at the water level:





i only use the hose for outlet and inlet connect to under gravel filter, previous setup is similar to this except for the UGF.

i see. not to worry though, C328 have the generic green pipes with bigger hooks outside their stores, you can get your hands on them there or you could get the aftermarket eheim pipes, pricing wise im not to sure but should be reasonable.

do you need to have the eheim taps for maintaining/cleaning the filter? cos they are not sold together....wonder if its helpful to have them.

yes, i intend to get one for my inlet part after using UGF. previously i just take out both inlet and outlet hose when cleaning.

hi guys,

i'm having difficulty getting my new 2211 t work for my 1 footer.
its brand new and for some reason the water wouldnt flow through the inlet pipe. i'd filled the filter with water and sucked through the outlet pipe but once i put it into the water, the air pocket appears in the inlet U pipe and when i turned on the filter, the motor makes the gaggling sound and the air remained trapped in there w/o being able to draw any water. pls help!!

erm ive tried that and its still rattling. my concern is that there is NO outflow at all.
i'd emptied the canister, suck water from the outlet pipe till both ends are filled with water. then i started the filter but all i hear is the rattling and no flow. . is it something wrong with the impeller?
