Sad to say..... One fine day, my mother thought it is a great idea to add Lake Malawai/Tanga ? Cichilid ,as they look colourful, without consulting me. She went ahead and bought 10 of them and drop them into my planted tan...

To my HORROR [:0] , when I came back. My yamato population is decimated, only 3 managed to survive. 12 Neon tetras are wiped out and 8 golden tetras was consumed..... [] . A sad sad day, [] Cannot save the rest of my small fishes, as day by day, all my tetras and shrimps are no more...

    Today's survival. 2 yamatos , 4 neon tetras and 3 golden tetras.....

Did you tell her to ask you the next time?....A little late but what you should have done is to catch the ones your mum bought after explaining to her nicely and return it to the shop in exchange for other fish?

My plants are mostly left alone. One of my yellow colored cichlid seems to hate kissing gourami and tried to chase when possible [:0].

Can I put discus with the cichlids???? Since they are from the same family... I am thinking of getting two golden melon discus to add to the tank ( around 65 bucks each ).

Suggest to remove those lake malawi fishes and housed them separately in a prper environment for your sake of you fishes and yourself.

    Good Luck!

Those cichlids are not going to last long in your planted tank. They need a higher PH and water hardness. Also, they are not going to leave your gravel alone.

can you learn your lesson please.

    a) don't come and complain when everything else in your tank is dead.

    b) take out lake cichlids. common sense. lake cichlids are territorial, having two means one will die.
if you don't have a proper biotope for them, don't keep them.
