What's the rationale ?

hmm add iron to the plant lor ...is it possible?
but are you sure the steel wool is confirm 100% iron?

the package indiicated 100% steel wool. Believe it or not, the steel wool can actually catch fire if u burn it ~ Amazed~
i read some forum mentioned some 1 tried this method and observed that his plants are growing more greener & bushy than b4.
That person also continue his routine dose of fei liao as usual and the steel water was just a extra. tat y i tried it out....i can see some new tiny leaf growing up on my fern's leaf too.... i guess is working... yep
It is an interesting concept but I don't think it will work. The iron fertiliser that we put is supposed to be chelated ferrous iron and how will the fishes react the rust-contained water. I see potential casualties occurring. Correct me if I am wrong.
Another concept that I seen before is to put iron nail into the substrate to allow it to rust, and those plants with long roots like Echino family can absorb the "nutrients". Does this method works?

water will be cloudy after you pour in the water
but as usual, the water will become clear as before.
So far there is no casualties. terra neons, red cherrys, SAEs & guppies. All still happy swimming le ...
i soaked 1 piece of steel wool with ard 300ml++ of water and used that amount to pour into my tank. (55litres)
Period - 2 weeks already

i also thinking iron fertiliser that we put is supposed to be chelated ferrous iron lor how can plant absorb the fei liao...
tat y i post it online and hopefully got some ans while i trying it out

what is sms lingo? ok i got it ..haha but why?

You can find out why in this link.
Since you will be editing your previous posts, I will leave things as it is.
As for your discussion, I have also came across similar reports of people inserting iron nails / paper clips into their substrate or putting them in their filters. There was also one report of someone observing better growth in his java ferns which was stapled to driftwood. But all these reports lacked serious scientific backing and are mostly anecdotal. You may want to read up on chelated iron source for plant growth.

I have seen pictures in APC where the have a low tech tank folder. One picture showed an uprooted crypt clinging on tightly to a rusty bolt left in the substrate for Fe. Maybe that plant knows something we don't?
