jus got a 2213 for my 2ft. was wondering if ceramic rings & biohome is suitable for planted. & wad other filter media would be recommended for planted tank.

this is the proposed layout for the 2213

    top basket:
    white filter wool
    blue porous filter wool

    middle basket:
    ceramic rings
    blue porous filter wool

    bottom basket:
    Biohomme, 300g white + 300g red

    is this arrangement okay ?

for 2213, the mechanical filtration(filter wool) should be at the bottom, although this should be the more coarse type, this is the first stage of filtration immediately after water intake. After that you would put in the biological medias, your biohomme can put in the middle or top, I dont think there is any problem, top it up with fine wool at the top basket.

you can visit Eheim website to have the recmmended arrangement.

ohhh yaaa i totally mixed up. the bottom inlet valve is actually the intake right & the top is the output. thanks for highlighting it out.

would like to check if ceramic rings & biohome is sufficient enough ?

ceramic rings (mech) -> coarse filter (mech) -> biohome/ substrat pro (bio) -> fine filter woo (mech)

    flawless

reason for not putting wool as the first layer is because it chokes up to quickly, by placing CR, heaver particles are 'trap' at the bottom because of their weight.

    hey b0r3db3ar,

by that did you mean that in sequence frm bottom layer onwards using ceramic rings (mech) -> coarse filter (mech) -> biohome/ substrat pro (bio) -> fine filter woo (mech) ?
