Time to silicon it on!
Waiting for the silicon to cure, takes 24hrs so I held it in place with a F clamp
Some lava rocks I got
Meanwhile, my hand got itchy and I decided to start a DIY project to build my own LED lights here.
Hi Folks! After decomming my marine tank, I decided to start a new fresh water tank at my new place. Still very new to this, so please guide me along
Plans are to run a 2ftx1.5ftx2ft with minimal fuss, so I'll be having US Fissidens for the lawn, some mini pellia tied to driftwood. For live stock, I'll just be having neon tetras and perhaps some crystal shrimps.
Some of my purchases
My new tank from CR arrived!!
Got a incredibly hard to find Juwel filter. Reason is I wanted something that looks simple and has a surface skimmer.
What the filter came with
Taking a closer look

awesome start! looking forward to seeing your progress! can you please specify the lighting your using! keep the pics coming
Putting in 2 packs (16kg) of soil and filling it up with water!
Kick starting the nitrogen cycle with this - Trying it for the first time as well
Measuring the pH - still neutral since the soil hasn't had time to react with the water
The other parameters - Nitrates seem to be on the high side for day 1, maybe it's from the soil
Some food to stimulate bioload
And the good old trusty feeder
Wow, with that killer LED array and only mosses, you may run into algae issues. Some floating plants may be good?
Otherwise, looking forward to seeing this tank in action
No lah the LED isn't that killer. I guess it's about the same as 2-3 tubes of T5 output.
My driftwood finally really to sink.
After tying Christmas moss to the dw and some Mini Pellia. Laying US Fissiden on the ground.
View from the back.
My first inhabitant!
Closeup on the Mini Pellia.
My first sucker fish. Anyone knows the exact name for this?
A full tank shot with my DIY LED lighting before plants and shrimps were added.
I like the placement which allows viewing from both sides and the sleek look with the LCD light and juwel filter. Just a suggestion to place additional mini pellia or add some stem plants as the tank looks a liitle bare. Otherwise, a large swordplant or two pots of vallisneria tortifolia may suit your set up.
WOW...this is awesome!
...people ask why I eat fish even though i'm such an avid fish keeper... Bottom line is that I've been eating fish a lot longer than I've been keeping them...
Looks like u have a Starlight Bristlenose.

Ah, thanks for the name!
Not sure if I can add any planted fauna since I'm trying to keep to no CO2 and ferts. Haven't seen anything I really like as well so I'm trying to go slow for now. Hard to keep the buy buy buy at bay and I stay soooooo near C328!!
Haha.. Nice tank. The urge to buy thing can slowly be trained.
Loving the whole DIY job for the LED fixture. Awesome Job.
Added in some vallisneria as bro benjidog suggested
