    Hi all,

Wanted to get a pair of T.candid, but lfs only told me no stock when i supposed to collect the fish. End up getting this pair of agassizi from JZX amk.

Just curious, is this the standard red ? It seems to me like a hybrid.

Re: Is this apisto.agassizii "red" ?

I was back home earlier and noticed that the female has turned into yellowish color, with a very prominent black spot in the middle of the lateral line of her body. Last night, the male agassizii was chasing her all the over the tank for the entire night. Now it seems like the situation has reversed. Like the chinese always say, " feng shui lun liu zuan" . haha.

Yeah man, beware when the fries appear, the female may kill the male. My female inka chased my male around the tank so much, he jumped out and killed himself by accident.

Re: Is this apisto.agassizii "red" ?

Well, actually i asked about the difference because i thought it was a hybrid. In my impression, the "super red" or "red" does not have any black seam on its tail. Also, the dorsal is kind of copper red with black color at the root/back.

Yeah, i was worry too as i am not around this few days. Just check the tank but see none of the fish yet. Let hope the female or male are still cohabit together peacefully.

Re: Is this apisto.agassizii "red" ?

The first attempt of spawning has failed for the virgin aggassizii female. Now back to male chasing female game.

female, lousy shot as she can't afford to stay still for 1 second. ( You noticed the male is at her back )

male, flared at her while approaching her

Re: Is this apisto.agassizii "red" ?

No, i didn't saw any eggs from last spawn and no habit of flipping the cave. But it was very obvious that the female has spawned and guarding the cave. That morning i was quite surprised as i was a bit suspicious that this might be a sneaker male.

Also I happened to see the pair doing the "business" during the night . I switched on the room light and the light was bright enough to watch the tank. After some hide and seek, the male went into the cave and the female actually followed behind. I said " ho say liao"...

I still worried you might get a sneaker male because from the very first pic don't look like female..
