I recently upgraded my tank from a 10g to 30g. Used GEX soil. My fish have been in a pail with airstone for about 18 hours now. I just finished rescaping the new tank to my liking, but the tank is still rather cloudy due to me moving rocks around. Do I have to wait till the water is completely clear before reintroducing my fish? I'm not sure how long I can keep them in the pail.

The pail is about 1-2 gallons, inside there are 2 angels, 3 danios, 3 corys, and 2 plecos.

Correct me if I am wrong, the 30g tank seems to be a new tank in my understanding, so you need to cycle the tank for about 1-2 weeks. It will be faster if you use back the old filter and water or you introduce external beneficial bacterial (BB) into the water, but with new soil, it will still need a few days for cycling. You can test the water using those commercially available test-kits.

For those fishes in the pail, they can survive with the airstone (O2) but you need to give them minimal food and change the water
as it will get dirty fast since there is no filter. Hope to see your new scape soon.
