i've got a pair of bettas in a 3ft tank i put in a couple of plants and the depth of the water's just bout 5 inches deep
the pair's been in the tank for a week and my boy built a huge huge bubblenest but then after a while he just destroyed it
i've put some ketapang leaves inside the tank too, so the water is a nice tea colour
been doing alot of research on breeding of bettas but the two just seem to refuse to breed. anyone knows if there's any way that will make them breed?or anything im doing wrong?

how old is your bettas?? there are cases where by the bettas doesnt want to breed due to young age. Preferably use a pair of bettas least 3months old to breed. It is a plus point for using older betta to breed as the male will look after the fries, picking its fries up from bottom and blow into the bubblenest instead of eating them up

What i suggest is seperate them up into 2 tanks in sight with each other to so call let them "cultivate" and "activate" their breeding instinct. Once your male betta start blowing bubblenest and your female betta showing vertical stripes on its body then it time to out them together.

Just remember to put floating plants which work best for breeding betta, hiding place for fries and good way for the male betta to build it bubble nest

my office has a big bowl (from ikea) of bettas with frogbits, put beside the window with morning sun directly casting onto it.
the warm temperature seems to make them thrived very well.

many have turned blue colour and have started to fight each other.
    try giving them some warmth.

Big bowl? Usually half will do. Here is the impression of the bowl from Youtube (Halfmoon male betta spwaning with female crowntail betta), see if this helps. 1st sign is usually male chasing female. If you look at the video, the female is actally quite battered up after the chase.
