Did it affect other plants too? I doubt it could be snails as they seldom touch healthy plants. They normally go for dying or dead leaves.

Dear all,
Today suddenly noticed that quite a number of my E tenelus have holes in their leaves. The holes runs alongside the "bonebone" of the leaves.
Is this work of snails/shrimps(not fed the tank for nearly a week)
Or is it nutrient problem?
Before this the tank is flourishing and growing.
I just sniped off the affect leaves...

Not sure if it affects the other plants, I don;t think so loh, because other plants are some inclinata stem plants and some bigger sword plants, and hairgrass.
Only tenelus ganna so far...

It could be Pottasium deficiency. If you haven't been dosing it, do so. You can try dosing with K2SO4.

I see, thanx for the suggestion. Its a relatively new setup, I just dose the normal all-in-one water fertilisers.

Do you have Otto in your tank, my used to do that until I removed them to another tank without tenelus

Yeah got Otos, but my tenelus was ok from setup day (about 3 weeks back), until today then I start to see the holes.

Your Otto hungry, observe them carefully and you will find that they are they responsible.

I seriously doubt that otos can chew on healthy E. tennellus leaves. Are the leaves with holes new or old? If they are old, are they emmersed or submersed leaves?

Hmmm, you might be right... I hadnt fed the tank for a week. I go drop an algae wafer now...
Thanx.
