This is my first experiment in shrimp tank.
It was a thrill to see the shrimplets!

Congrats !
Thank you! I did not know that the shrimplets are so small
I did not feed them anything special like baby brine shrimps.
I just added some flake food.
The shrimplets are slowly getting a little bigger so i guess that is ok?
Anyone with any advice?
You don't have to worry about feeding the shrimplets. They eat the same things the adults eat.
Suckerfish no eat poo poo.
Yup! I see those little fellas trying to steal some bites from the big fellas.
They are so tiny! About only 2mm long.
How long does it take for them to grow to adult size (1.5-2cm?)
Hi Bros Benji, did you build up the nano tank component by component by yourself or through a package deal?
Care to share what you have?
Me also have a nano tank and want to compare notes.....
Those female shrimplets will be ready to reproduce in about 2 months time.
Hi curryfishhead,
I brought a used Colourful brand plug and play 1 ft tank from a fellow forumer.
The tank comes with it's built in OHF and lights.
I added filter wool and ceramic bioballs to the filter.
Used red package 2kg of Gex shrimp substrate.
Plants from my planted discus tank.
Did you use carbon in your filter?
I have a very similar tank to yours, same Gex substrate, ohf, lights and 24x7 fan but shrimp seems to die occasionally. Getting a lot of help from fellow forumers here... still trying to stabilise the tank.....
I don't use carbon.
I have a cooling fan but it is only turned on occassionally as it is noisy.
The fire red sakura shrimps are doing fine.
Lost crs shrimp(sob!!!).
Guess they are more delicate compared to FRS.
making a half aquarium half vivarium soon. but i don't dare to keep crs cause i not sure how to adjust the water conditions to suit it. most likely keep some crabs, small tetras and cherries shrimp.. hope it'll be a success though. anyway nice shrimplet you've got. haha![]()
Hi Wingless
Wow! How big is the vivarium you are planning?
Oh! How are you going to keep the tetras and shrimps save from the crabs?
You can start with cherry shrimps first.
If they thrive, put in some higher grades.
probably 1.5ft/ 2ft cube. i saw a thread from a fellow bro (http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...k-mini-journal) and he put those 3 inside the same tank, so i thought they won't attack each other? i did a 31x19x19 tank with plant/ small tetras and cherries but disappointingly, most of the cherries were gone. think got cheated by the aunty who sold me the cherries. 1 small cherry (roughly 3-5mm) costs me 50cents and she said it can put together with the tetras, within 3days left 3 big cherries (out of 14 mixed size cherries). no more confidence to keep shrimp already T.T
