Re: my first nano tank (IQ3 Cube)

dont really have much space left for plants.. went to petmart & they told me quite a number of plants require co2 & fertilizer.. so i can only get those that wont need those... i think my basic startup already a little wrong due to the wrong kind of gravel/soil...

'run in' the tank for a week before introducing the shrimps.. but everything looks alright i guess since there hasnt been any fatality...

I think the plant can feed on shrimp poo poo.

Re: my first nano tank (IQ3 Cube)

hyun: i dont think the poo poo is enough... just worry that as time goes by, the poo gets too much and spoils the water condition.. but i think minor water adding shouldnt cause too much of a stir for them.. best about this tank is its super easy to manage, but cannot put too many plants or stuff inside and also must customise a small netting to block the shrimps from going into the filter from the tiny holes as well as a IQ3 Cube Tank Lid or else the shrimps will commit suicide which 1 actually did, lucky i was just staring at it...

zeeksg: thanks for the compliment.. its abit too small, but its a start for me i guess.. haha... actually its not considered aircon environment because i only on the aircon at night and in the day, its just room temperature but no direct sunlight.. tank light is on from 8am til 10pm at night... was told that switching on the lights 8hrs a day is enough for those 3 plants inside...

No and maybe yes for a few.
Going to experiment whether I can keep in normal temperature for some lower grade.

If I am am going to keep them in AC room, the AC will only be switched on for 11 hours.
After that. they have to deal with the temperatures themselves.

By the way, no filter as well, I will keep you guys updated whether it will be 全军覆没(Grave of CRS)。

For long run, to0 big temperature swing will cause harm to your CRS, Sakura should be ok, and the gravel you used is not suitable for CRS as they require lower PH, 6.2 to 6.8 compare to sakura 6.8 to 7.2

OooOOooo.... no wonder my Sakura is breeding and already has 2 mamas when they are only a week old in my tank, but CRS is not and they are always hanging on the top of the water near the pump blower, think the water temp is cooler at the top.. i never even measure the PH or water temp when i started this nano tank... as for the gravel, i bought it becoz i saw the shop putting these in their tank & their shrimps are breeding (cherry shrimps i think).. just hope that they will last until i upgrade my tank to a 2ft but that would means more things to get from chiller to canister filter, etc etc.... oh my~~

Re: my first nano tank (IQ3 Cube)

i think i have made my tank overcrowded.. i was overwhelmed at the fish shop that i bought 2 assassin snails, 2 ottos, 6 galaxy, 16 more shrimps.. (8 transparent/greenish looking shrimps & 8 more Sakuras but to my surprised, it came with tons of shrimplets!!!! i dont know how i should put the shrimplets in, but i did the same method of putting shrimps in and those shrimplets just swam and hide in the moss, the plants, etc.... right now i cant even see them anymore.. dont even know if those galaxy fishes will eat them up...
