My experience is quite the reverse from yours. I hardly add any sort of liquid ferts to my tanks so my mosses tend to "yellow". I would say the problem probably isn't one of iron supplementation but more of "too much or too little iron".

Hello everyone!
Has anyone experienced dying moss with iron supplementation? I just realized recently that it was probably my flourish iron fertilization that was causing my moss to yellow (like it was bleached). I searched online and saw that iron/iron compounds are used to kill lawn mosses, so I assume it would have the same effect on aquatic mosses. I was pouring the iron in my tank, where it hits my moss covered driftwood. It was there that I noticed the yellowing of the mosses. I think it would be ok to fertilize with iron, as long as it is not directed at the mosses. Any experiences?

Thanks for the reply, timebomb! I suppose you are correct. I think the moss just got the brunt of the fertilization, and directly too. Better probably to dilute with water or pour in the water column instead![]()
