    Hello all

Could anyone help guess/identify which Bitaeniata is this? Also, I am having doubts and suspect that the female is a sneaker male. Appreciate your help and thanks in advance.

    Hi Bro,

I think it looks like a female. Maybe some other experts here can confirm.

Thanks for replying. The female brightens to rather intense yellow tinge whenever the male flares. However, it has distinct face markings and lacks the black ventral fins, hence the doubt.

Looks female to me. As for locality, you got it wild or farm bred? If its farm bred, its possibly a peruvian strain which are most common. But recently, they are many farm bred Biateniata "tefe" appearing in LFS too. If its wild, seller would have the locality information. Because Bitaeniata's are highly polychromatic. Hence its very difficult to indicate their locality by looking at the color of the fish. Take for example, a yellow shishita, mamuri will throw out bluish/reddish fries that resembles the tefe variant and similarly, the tefe can throw out yellow fries that resembles the shishita and mamuri variant.
