    hi pple, what should the preferred wattage be for the lightings of a 2ft planted tank? And where is the best place i can get them from? cheap and bright. would appreciate some help here.. thanks

    The guideline is 3 watts per gallon. But it may rise depending on the type of plants as well. Certain stemmed plants my require up to 4 watts per gallon....

    for a 2ft tank, the capacity should be ard 10 gallon. so you will need ard 30 watt of lighting. You can use 2 15w FL lighting or 1 36W PL lighting.

    diy may not be the cheapest way to go.
    it's more for self satisfaction.
    try checking out lfs and lighting shops for lights.

    Totally agree with Tawauboy. Prices of lighting nowadays are pretty competetive. Do scout around at lfs namely NA Nature. He has good knowledge in lighting plus he's able to modify fora minimal fee.
