I am planning to convert my FW tank to a SW tank (Fish with Live Rock Only). The tank's dimension is 4x1.5x1.5 ft. Does a cannister filter (Aqua Via 750) have the sufficient filtration mean for it? What are the type of filter media to be place inside? Hope to get some guidance from the experts here

what is the thickness of the tank? for a tank that size, i would recommend getting at least a eheim 2229 for the basic minimum if u have to use a canister.. best if u can get it converted into a overflow. i have the feelig that aqua via 750 is a all wet filter. 2229 is a wet/dry filter and it should power your tank well enuff.. u should not underpower them.. for filter media, i used only sponge and wool for my canister filter for 2ft tank but my 4ft marine tank is using sump.

My tank's thickness is on the thin side (6mm).. I understand that the water pressure of a SW tank is much greater than a FW tank .. Is my tank suitable in this sense? I am planning to get a few glass pieces to do a DIY internal overflow system taking up 0.5 ft space in the tank itself as I am not thinking of using a sump, something similar to what Adrianli is doing. Or will an overhead filter perform just as well? Still raw in SW .. hoping to learn more from you guys

your thickness will not be able to support.. minimum would be 8mm.. but i would suggest to go for 10mm.. coz i dun wan to have the tank give way on me in the middle of the night..
an OHF is fine but it takes up lots of space in an already space constraint environment.
