I am yet to see planted tank (with CO2) having Glass Catfish. Fascinated with its transparent body and slow movement, I am thinking of keeping a few but heard that it is very sensitive to water condition and prefer slightly alkaline water.

With CO2 injection that makes the water a bit acidic and causes a swing in KH (when light on and off), do you think Glass Catfish is suitable to be in such tank?

My 3 glassfish are doing great in my planted tank. I feed them frozen blood worms as they will not eat processed fish food.

    Very peaceful fish.

    Hi,

Many years back I saw an LFS in Selegie has a planted tank with glass fish. So, answer to your question is definitely yes!

    Oh yeah!
Must go get a few to put in my tank. The aquarium shop boss told me that it has to be ordered cos he can't keep them for long in his shop as they will die very soon.

I had 10 glass catfish in my tank sometime back... and they are great community fish... however there are a few things I found which made them not so suitable for planted tanks

    1) They dun like bright lights... those that I had would come out whenever the lights went out
    2) They are damn good at hiding... i.e. you will almost never see them
    3) They prefer tanks with more current... most of our tanks dun provide enough current...
