Thanks for the very kind words, I literally just copied the LEDs projects from the DIY Projects sub forum. I'm sure anyone could had done a better job if they had the interest.

I'm not willing to dismantle my T5 housing as my intention is to keep the light set as a backup in case my LEDs project backfires. If nothing goes wrong for the next week, I would probably sell off the T5 lights to re-coup some money back.

I would probably take up Adrian's suggestion to have wooden planks to reinforce the aluminium plate. Any idea where I can find very skinny planks?

    Day 20

Air dropped a lone BDS into Pris yesterday.

While doing some maintenance on Pris today, I absent minded-ly continued my dosing regime! I have been doing dosing liquid ferts everyday for the past 2 weeks and had planned to stop once I introduced shrimps into Pris. Contemplated on doing a WC again, but decided to risk it.

5 hours later, I found the lone ranger out in the fields....

    Alive and Kicking!

Thank goddess everything is alright (for now), but I better not be trigger happy anymore and squirt the ferts around anymore.

@PaperCut: There are no innovative story lines here. I'm really broke and there is a really such a pretty girl in my school!

On a more serious note, I try to have my entries to reflect a true representation of my affair with Pris. In doing so, my entries can be controversial at times (like how I accidentally dose ferts into Pris today or the commando testing method) and I hope everyone can read my entries in a light-heartedly manner.

    TEASER
Though I am broke now, I still have some secret weapons that I purchased a week ago but they are still stuck at Vpost (consolidating my orders). Wait till I get my hands on my secret weapons, kekeke.

    Day 22

Got my part time job back and air-dropped a company of shrimps into Pris.
Number of shrimps inserted into Pris today: 27

So now I have a lucky population of 28 shrimps in Pris.

    Day 23 -27

No more lucky number, one of the shrimps couldn't make the jump and died

I believe the shrimps became more active after I stopped pumping CO2 and changed to a air pump instead.

Thank you, will try my best to update regularly.

    Day 29

Conducted a body check up on Pris today.

    Here is her medical report.
    NO3 - 25mg/l
    NO2 - 0mg/l
    GH - 3
    PH - 6.5

No casualty so far except for the one on Day 23 but hard to be sure as Pris is a jungle concept tank. The coloration of the shrimps seems to have improved too.

Very tempted to air-drop another section of shrimps to reinforce the current company, but I want to make sure everything is running fine for another few more days before I call for reinforcements.

    Day 30

    Secret weapons arrived.

    Secret Weapon #1

I was rather intrigued by this moving bed filter design posted on youtube.

The concept made sense to me, you can say it works similarly to a sponge filter. The only flaw in this design is that it won't have any denitrification capabilities but I find the moving media too fun to watch, so I decided to order some of that media to try out.

Here's a shot of my DIY moving bed filter in Pris.

Turned out to be quite a disappointment at the moment - 90% of the media in my filter isn't moving at all. According to the "inventor", it takes several days for the media before it starts to move freely.

Keeping my fingers crossed, its grossly expensive to buy such stuff when you consider the media is just made up of plastic.

    Secret Weapon #2

No, its not a pregnancy test kit. Its a TDS meter!

Brought 2 sets to maximize the shipping fee, now at least I will have some sort of indication whether the stainless steel meshes in Pris are oxidizing or something.

    Results
    Tap water - 70ppm
    Pris - 150ppm

I don't have bottled RO water to test out at moment, but I tested both the meters in Pris and I got a difference of 5ppm consistently between the 2 meters.

bro, i guess u got the wrong media size, you should get the smaller version one. this one is powered using pumps. because of the size of the holes, air will trap easily for this media size.

Yea, it was rather expensive as I brought a small amount. I think the guys at arofanatics are doing a bulk order (5litre) pack, its going to be much much cheaper if you are sharing with them.

Erm, its the smallest size already. Im using the K1 media, its because my bottle is too small, not because the media is too big

Re: My 'Pris' 2ft Tank Journal

Here you go - a quickie on Pris!

    Day 87

Apologies for the no updates, Im pretty bogged down by projects/presentations/exams given that school is coming to a close, as well as Pris being kept to an almost representable state.

A summary of the major events since the last update
    1. Lost a number of CRSs when I set my chiller at 25 degrees. Seems to have improved after I lowered my CL-280 to 24 degrees. Guess that the internal thermostat isn't that accurate.

    2. Lost quite a bit of moss in my battle with algae. Tank is relatively algae-free at the moment, except for greenish water and some persistent BBA near the bottom of the tank walls.

    3. Welcomed my first batch of shrimplets from one of my berried shrimps about 2 weeks ago.

    4. Removed my DIY filter that utilize the kaldness media. Hornworts doesn't seems to be thriving in the partition area.

    5. Changed filter wool on Pris's second month anniversary.

For WC, I do a 10% change every 5 days.

Re: My 'Pris' 2ft Tank Journal

Hey bro, nice work with 'Pris'!

One small suggestion... Maybe you can use black Oyama paper to cover up the front glass of the side filter panel... it looks too naked!
