If you want a 'good' diffuser, then I suggest ADA beetle. The bubbles are very fine coming thru the ceramic plates making it easier to mix into the water column.

I case you want a cheap solution, I use a wood diffuser, more fine than a cheap ceramic diffuser.
Not too sure how it compares to ADA beetle.

Hi Sherwin! Been considering a CO2 diffuser, ADA being one of them. What diameter should I use? Does it make any difference? Is it the bigger the diameter, the more the CO2 is diffuse? Can you please advise on where is the cheaper source for this diffuser?

Hi Eric, what kind of wood diffuser are you talking about? How does it look like? Where can I buy it? Good?

    Thanks!

    Cheers!

Something like an air stone but it is make of wood.

Some say it is for marine but I bought a co2 package that comes with it. made in Germany. I also tried ceramic type air stone...still wood produce finer co2....

I cannot use flipper or beetle, too big for my 14inch square tank...obstructing the view. I hide the diffuser behind a drift wood.

Go to serangoon north, many shops has it, I thing it cost only $3-$5...however it is not german made. If quality differs...don't blame me.

If I'm not mistaken, there's 30mm, 40mm and 50mm diameter ADA beetle. The bigger they are, the higher diffusion rate. To choose the size of diffuser based on your budget and the size of your tank.

Kadios, pressurised CO2 or DIY? If DIY, forget about the diffuser. The pressure is simply not enough to push through the ceramic plates. You would end up with a DIY explosion. []

I personally prefer the external reactor/diffuser, reckon they are better and the main advantage is : you are able to miminise stuff / equipment in the tank !. Just my opinion !, cheers !

Thanks Sherwin for the answer. I guess the biggest diameter will be more "cost effective" in the long run for future upgrading.

Hey, Peter! I use a CO2 tank and is using a reactor. Lately, came across someone who told me diffuser is better for dissolving CO2. Hence, I'm tryin to get more info on diffuser. May wanna get one for evaluation purposes. Of course, it will be better (save $$$ mah!) if I can get the answer from here. But it seems like it all boils down to personal preference.

Pardon me for my ignorance, akoh! I never seen or heard about such external reactors. Care to elaborate more? It'd be better if I can see and feel it physically. Any idea which LFS uses these for their show tank? Thanks!

    Cheers!

To date I have broke 3 glass diffussers, Vista brand ones... Because I was rough when fixing the tubes and removing it from the rubber suction caps... Will ADA brand be more hardy?

e external reactor is DIY one...
Its e normal reactor wif e caps being sealed wif tapes or silicon gel...
instead of placing it inside e tank,
some ppl likes it to be place outside as they find it to be unsighty...

    N i believe brands doesn't really matter
cuz if u r not gentle, IT WILL BE HURT []

you can find external co2 reactors at nature aquarium and c328.
if you have the know-how, you can diy one.
