Hello, planning to plant hairgrass. How tall can it grow to and also, is it a fast grower and does it creep like glosso?

Does it need high light like glosso?

Is $3 a pot considered reasonable?

    Thanks.

Halo, I find out that....there are 2 type of hairgrass, thick & thin types. PetMart is selling the thick type which is $5 per pack then the thin type is selling in the pot. WHICH 1 IS THE BEST?[]

I planted the thin type, the growth rate is pretty slow. Need to have patience to see the runner finally appears. Now about 3 inches long.

I bought my "bunch" from the Pasir Ris "Mermaid" Ah Pek at $2 a bunch. Quite a lot but you need to have patience to seperate them as they comes in "bunches", turn them one by one making sure the roots are not planted the other way around.

You may want to compile a shopping list if you really do want to drop by Teo. IMO, making a trip down to Teo only to get some hairgrass may not be worth time and effort, esp. if you are trying to get there by public transport.

congrats, you "graduated" to Teo's [:] yes you went to the right place. $15 worth hairgrass, you are damn greedy lah. Remember you have to keep a distance between planting, don't tam sim plant too close together end up messing up the ke-kanan lurus and the plants cannot anchor properly. Think you can resell the left overs

Anyway, tomorrow we see whether your grass finish first or your kidneys kaput first

    hi Bluezing!

This warning may come a bit late:

Please clean the hairgrass and split them thoroughly, while lookin out for slugs that may stay close to the roots. This was my experience with purchasing submersed hairgrass.

Another thing to look out for is green algae that stays near the growth tip. Anyway, green algae is not so much of a concern since SAE will eat them usually.

Juz tot I share my experience!

    Cheers!

actually Teo's hairgrass is planted emersed, so you need to give them some time to adjust, so don'ch gabra when they start yellowing. After a little while you will notice many green leaves emerging from the gravel because the runners have been running without you knowing. [:]

hairgrass needs LOTS of CO2, do you know they also pearl, when mine pearls you have a sea of tiny bubbles, with the occasional jumbo ones (like f*rting underwater ) scaring the fishes, because all the O2 trapped in the base of the hairgrass, accumulate until "blow up". Should be excellent for aerating the substrate.
