Wa, you very humble lei, call this a newbie tank. But really thumbs up for you. i like the forest feeling in the scape with mountains ranges at the back. but i can't believe its a 2 feet tank.

    Re: My newbie tank

Initially this was an experiment tank, and I have to apologize my self. I was always telling people that for flame moss to grow curl, you need cool water around 25. I was wrong this tank temp is around 28-30 or even higher on the hot day and yet the flame moss grow curl.

The best way to figure the tank size is by looking at the fish as well as the plant leaf size.

The flame moss was tie on the bamboo chop stick. I suppose to trim it regularly to make it look like pine tree but too lazy

Robert, I see that you are getting ready for the IAPLC 2011 already
It is a extremely inspiring scape and I don't believe it is a 2ft tank until I see how big the cardinal tetra are in the tank. Can reveal where did you get the rocks from? I think the overall weight of the tank + water + plants+ rocks must be quite heavy.

The rock on the right side is a flat type, you can get it from Green chapter/midori. The one on the left side is a a big junk, I got it from NA.

    Re: My newbie tank

Initial concept before settle with current photo.

First concept with small cave but can't really see the cave

    Change to other concept

add some chopstick to emulate the three. The chop stick will be covered by flame moss

Filling up with water very slowly

    Re: My newbie tank

sure you can... start slowly, take photo and post it every step of the way and all the bro here will be more than happy to help you.

O.. and I did do black out after taking photo but then I kill the HC during the process. The rocks do clean from green spot after the 3 days black out but HC does not seem to be happy with black out

    Re: My newbie tank

Just like what you normally tie moss on the wood. Put the moss around the chop stick and use cotton string to tie it.

Shadow, can advise on the weight of such a iwagumi scape, I think it should be very heavy. Just wondering whether my stand can hold the weight.

Corleone, I asked the same question and this is what Shadow replied "The rock on the right side is a flat type, you can get it from Green chapter/midori. The one on the left side is a a big junk, I got it from NA."
Have not go down to see the rocks yet, but will do so.
