Hi, I just started a 2 ft marine tank a few weeks ago, and my blue damsel seems to have white spots on it. How to remedy this?

put it in a plastic bag and see if it rolls itself over to the sea...

try using garlic juice and mix it with your fish food.. let the food absorb the essence and then feed it to the fish.. should clear in 3 days or so.

Kel, apart from " garlic juice ", what is your recommendation for white spots medication. My pyjamas cardinal and blue tangs seem to have some on them ! cheers !

pyjamas cardinal?? is it bangaii cardinals? anyway, from my knowledge, copper-based medication is the best for curing white spots but if u have corals or invertebrates inside them, then it is not advisable to use them. Garlic juice is the best remedy so far that i know of.. u can actually buy them off the shelves, it is called garlic guard, by seachem if i recall correctly...

The main cause of your blue tang having the spots could be, apart from them being prone to having white spots, your tank might not be matured fully enuff to support them or it is too small (both the tank or tang for that matter), alternatively, it could either be that it is being stressed or bullied...

ideally, to keep tangs, u would have to consider at least 3ft or more... to give them to space to swim and keep the bio-load low.... feed them with lettuce and they are very greedy feeders... eat a lot too..
