    Hi All,

I need advice if my current fertilisation is sufficient or do I still need to add Seachem Nitrogen and Phosphate into this and at what amount? Thanks.

Seachem Nitrogen and Phosphate might be good. But I think Dennerle Gold Planta 7 might have N & P. Anyway, WonderGRO and LushGro might be able to address that. It is easy to add fertilizer than adding another CO2 outlet. Therefore, dumping fertilizer can be our downfall. I will still advise another CO2 outlet especially it is a 4 feet

Did you feed bloodworm to the discus?

Also, discus is good at disposing high amount of ammonia.

You really need the plant to work well in order to censor out the ammonia. Furthermore, your tank is still immature

Re: Newly Setup 4X2X2 discus planted tank

I'm feeding 1 meal of frozen blood worm morning and 1 meal of tetra bits meal evening per day. The meals are finished within minutes and I have some german ram, electric blue ram to clear any remaining. Cleaning crew now bumble bee nerites snails x 5 and otto x 5.

I'll try reducing the light period and do water change more. At the moment is 15% water change per week; but will double that and see how it goes.

I'm still lost on the fertilisation amount and type, so will stay with the current profito, planta gold 7 and equilibrium combination so that I don't change too many unknown things at a time.

Re: Newly Setup 4X2X2 discus planted tank

Thanks Andy. At the moment it is considered new, only about 1 month old and the perimeters are not stable yet as seen in my earlier post on BBA and green hair algae. I'm still trying to strike a balance and doing minor tweaks in hope to get a more stable and minimal algae environment.

Currently changes made are doing 4hrs lighting, additional 3ml sechem excel ontop of external CO2 and twice weekly water change of 15%. Fertilisers remains the same as mentioned in earlier post.

Latest update, all frys are gone as expected in the community tank. Only get to see them free swimming for 1 day. The consolation I get is the knowlegde that the fishes are healthy and still happy with the current environment. Will update with picture in the next few weeks when I can see marked improvements.

    Cheers.

Bro tommy, thanks for your encouragement.

Though I wanted to post only if I see some improvement to the algae problem, I can't hold back my triple joy today 3 different pairs of fishes laid eggs!!!

My turquoise discus pair, my blue diamond discus pair and even the most unlikely electric blue ram pair laid eggs at different spot inside my 4x2x2 tank today! Hooray x 3!

Re: Newly Setup 4X2X2 discus planted tank

    Bro JizzHut,

The fishes and plants inside my tank do not require low temperature so save me some $$$. The tank is only fitted with a single 12cmx12cm fan blowing across the water surface at 45 degree angle for 24hrs.

Re: Newly Setup 4X2X2 discus planted tank

Noticed that my earlier photos seem to have gone missing online so posted latest shots from 3 different angles to update.

Plants growth significantly as seen here and have done some trimming. Still doing manual removal of BBA weekly.

    Any comments are welcome.

You may use photobucket to upload your picture and link it here. Once you uploaded. PM me your link. I show you how to load it here. Also, the image tend to be bigger than now. Now I find that your tank picture showcased very small. Therefore not many people commented. Hard to see la

    Thanks Colin!

The photos were taken using my lousy phone camera and the reflection from the balcony causing the over exposed look.
