Whats the point?.....new one only cost $85

You can change the entire Solenoid valve, it cost about $51. Check out the business phone directory for valve/solenoid/pneumatics....

My thought is not worth it.

Apollo, why don't you try selling it and get fundings for a new regulator.

If you want to sell, please contact me. I am working on a project, needing the gauges and the CO2 cylinder connector. SMS 94300794

A solenoid is just a laminated coil of wire. When current flows through it, the solenoid will act like a magnet to actuate a valve to allow CO2 to flow. The most probable cause of failure is the coil melting due to the heat generated. I've replaced my solenoid coil with a FESTO part for about $18. You can test if the solenoid is spoilt by checking the connectivity of the 2-pin plug. If the solenoid is not spoilt, you may want to dismantle the valve for a good cleaning. You can apply a little WD40 before assembling it.

Hi mok. Can i know what is the brand of the regulator/solenoid you are using? I've burnt my UP brand's solenoid long time ago but couldn't find a replacement. Nature Aquarium don't have them too. So hope you can provide the part no. of the solenoid that you bought from Festo as replacement so i can get a replacement from there too.

    MOK,
May I know what is FESTO or where is FESTO. A brand or a place. Can you share the contacts please.

Mok, one coil doesn't fits all solenoid, can you tell us what brand of solenoid does it fits. Can it fit JBJ? UP? or Tiren or S.Y. (SenYang)

Can you post a pics of that 'FESTO'?
    Thanks

Bro, Is yours a first generation or 2nd gen UP type? Probably yours is the 2nd gen type... Not hot type rite? Go to Ah Pek... Cost you around 30 to 35 dollars for a replacement.

If you dun want it tell me ok? I want...

This is the FESTO solenoid I bought almost 3 years back. Just dug out the receipt. It cost me $17.80 back then. Click here to go see the full specification. Below is my CO2 setup. I'm using Kare's set. I brought the valve to FESTO and asked them to find a matching solenoid. What's important is the dimension, i.e. the internal diameter of the solenoid and it's height.

    Mok, thanks for the info...

    Mok & oqs ,
Festo singapore homepage show more of a educational institute...do they sell products at the same address? Or diff contact.

Mok, do you know where to find the valve as well? or both Solenoid+valve for 1/8' NPT thread.

Industrial German/itally Solenoid valve (solenoid +valve) cost $51, any cheaper way?

Keen to find parts seperately and assemble own system.
    Thanks

    Hi Eric,
It'll probably cost you more to source for parts and assemble yourself. I've checked FESTO solenoid actuated valves before, the cost is in the region of $100 if I remember correctly. $51 for solenoid+valve is cheap, but quality may be dubious. You still have to get the pressure regulator, gauges and flow regulator(needle valve). To source for pneumatics parts, the big names to go to are FESTO and SMC(I'm using SMC T-joint and needle valves). For cheaper sources, you can do a search at The Green Book. The thread is not much of a problem because brass adaptors are readily available at a very low cost.

Thanks MOK for your precious info.

I did not got DIY for getting a cheaper solution.
I go DIY for a reliable robust solution, and I will then know where to find spare parts in future.

But since I am in the path of DIY, I must find the cheapest path. See the difference?

I saw you SMC parts, I got many of those, my factory use them alot.
    hehe...

    Bys

    Hi Eric,
The pressure regulator reduces the cylinder pressure to that wthin the operational range of the solenoid valve. This pressure range depends on the valve used. My guess is that the selection of the pressure regulator is dependent on the valve used. Matching the regulator and valve could be tricky. I've no lobang for the regulators, can't help much there.

    Ai yoh...Apollo,

Wonder why you don't like MOK's lobang of FESTO solution of $18, instead you like Ah Pek $30 solution ?!?

    Didn't follow the thread isit?

Bro, if yours is a 1st gen one then you should be able to get something from Mok's lobang. kang tow I mean....

Only go to Ah Pek if you have a 2nd gen one. 1st gen one also can go to Nature, I went to change mine back around 6months ago.

So suggestion: Mok's kang tow then Nature then Ah Pek. (in that order)

    Hi Mok & gchoo

Went to Festo yesterday afternoon. They dont have matching solenoid for my UP regulator. Otherwise, they are just not helpful. Maybe i am not technical enough to convince them that they have a matching part! Haha...

Anyway, i am back to square 1. Mok, You sure Nature got the spare part? I last check with them sometime back and he say no and went on to comment that he also "kanna gun" ( Mandarine).

Can some kind soul lead me to right path?

    Thanks.
