Keep the lights on.
Frogbits are good, but you must perform water changes to lower nitrate levels.

how high is high? what is your target ppm? do you have plant in your tank? you should post your tank specification.

I think my nitrate is reading 20 ppm. wana keep it low to 5ppm.
think 20ppm or below is acceptable, even for shrimps. Though it should be as low as possible, capped at 20ppm max is still acceptable.
Nevertheless, frogbits can gradually aid in decreasing nitrate levels.

bro i supposed you are keeping crs? if yes, how about trying benibachi crimson ball. my tank with NO3 stagnant at 10 ppm for quite sometime went down from 5 ppm and now 0 ppm after using it. the tank also consist of hornworts & frogbits but the NO3 didn't barge from 10 ppm until i added the crimson ball and of course weekly water changed around 10 liters. hope that helps.

hi just for your record 10 liters is around 1/4 amount of water changed for my tank. do not want to mislead you. all the best.

try placing more rooted plants, it reduced my nitrate level to approx 5ppm from 10ppm when my tank was 4 months old.
