100 fishes in a 2ft cube tank even is asking for trouble. You are definitely going to overload the NH4 and tip the scale to algae. Unless you want tank full of algae and dead fishes, you need to reconsider. The notion of healthy plants = healthy fish will always hold but presence of ammonia is going to tip the scale.

[] erm...dunno how to say...but previously i have around 70+ fishes in my tank.and they are all very healthy and they have still quite a lot of space to swim.to each his own.if one can keep and maintain healthy fishes at that level i dun really see the prob.of cos thanks to all for the advise.the 1 fish per gallon rule i know, but have to depend on the size of the fish also.anyway, most likely i will buy say..er...50 1st.then see how.

    Bluezing,

Another suggestion : Increase your bioload slowly. Assuming that you are planning to add 50 tetras into your 2ftx2ftx?ft tank, add them in 2-3 batches to give your beneficial bacteria sufficient time to increase. Your fishes will thank you for your kindness.

"1 inch per gallon" rule is a good way to estimate your max bioload though it is safe to have a few more fishes in a heavily planted tank.

there's one problem with this approach, when you buy more fish, the price per fish drops. so most likely, i would want to buy all the fish in one shot. after i buy my fishes, if i want to add them in 2-3 batches i would need another tank to hold them temporary. Which was a problem for me as I only had one tank.
