The most fool-proof way is to put it with a male. If they start whacking each other, your MG HMPK is a male

Even females can fight with males. Not really a fool proof method.

Best method for sexing betta is looking for the females egg sac and also by looking at the ventral will you be able to tell the sex. Usually males will display longer ventral.

I'd look out for the egg spot in females. Otherwise, you can place a mirror beside the tank and observe the fish's behaviour.
