I guess making use of beneficial bact will help to solve this problem
Dear Forumer,
Just setup my new tank 3 weeks ago, notice my NO3 level is around 10, Hoping to lower down the level to 0. looking for some advice, preferable not to use any chemical approach as i have some shrimp inside.
I recall some forumer mentioned putting bacter ball from ADA will increase the bacteria level in the tank, is this correct? Browsing some posting mentioned some floating plant also reduce the nitrate level
Many thank in advance for the advice.
Edi

well u can do partial water change of 10 to 20 percent weekly or add plants like hornwart, nana, frogbits, fontanilis.....
bacteria only able to convert from ammonia to NO2 then to NO3. NO3 kind of the end product, so you either do water change or add some plants. Water change may not really help since Singapore water if remember correctly have about 5ppm NO3.
I think you should do water changes and add in frogbits..
I have heard that the E. Aflame can reduce the nitrate level in the redbee tank.
all healthy growing plant will reduce nitrate. The faster they grow, the fater the take the nitrate
