Sorry. Just to add. Anyone knows where to get these fishes? They are very small, so I doubt they will harm the CRS.![]()
I had about 50 cardina tetras. About 2 months back, they all started developing a diease. The mouth would swell open and the stomach would bloat unevenly.
At first was 1 or 2 a week. Now when I checked, almost 1/2 of them has this sympthom....
I passed the tetras to my cousin who said he would leave it in his pond.
Now I have no fishes in my tank. Only shrimps.
But today, I saw some worms swimming around!
Question
1) would these worms had contributed to the tetra's demise?
2) are they harmful to humans? reason being, that I use my bare hands to handle the plants and filters.
3) any way to get rid of them?
I will try to attach some pics, but they are light coloured and very fine. So very difficult to capture on camera.

White worms? Probably planaria. Ugly but haven't done anything to my shrimp tank last time. Killing it, you could make a planaria trap or lesser feeding. I don't know this will work but i added a little salt and lessen my feeding to kill them which worked.
Consider a planaria killer trap. I haven't tried it myself, but i seen many with success to it.
Can you get a clearer picture? Ask somebody to help you take it.
Okay! Hope it will be clearer
i also have these tiny white worms in my tank.. they usually hides inside the soil, when you cut down the feeding time and the quantity of the food they will starts to "swims" around and finally become lesser and lesser.. For me at first i fed my shrimp once per day, but now once every 3 days. the amount of the white tiny worms decrease as time goes. hope this helps you![]()
v200, i have found some swimming worms in my moss growing tank, doesn't seem to be planaria since i never drpo any food source for them. But i added a high dosage of salt and their numbers reduced sharply the next day. Hope this helps.
I stopped feeding n intro some tigerbark into my tank.can see that they r searching n eating the worms.heard earth eater works too.
A bro recommend using kao cloth at the base of OHF.which will blocks all worms suckup by filter from cycling back into the tank
Hey guys i have planaria in my puffer tank too, i was wondering how i got them though. Could it be from feeding them frozen shrimp? i clean my tank once a week with a gravel vacuum and do water changes at the same time. I do not overfeed them since i just put a thawed frozen shrimp in there and they share it but ofcourse i wash it first. Any suggestions?
