I suggest you should check the water condition first like Ph, Gh, Kh etc.

That is a SAE if I am not wrong.

Get otos instead, they are small and is the only reputated shrimp friendly fish by all.

By the way, Oto looks very much like CAE, just make sure you know how to tell the different as most fish shop sell juvenile CAE and they look very much like Oto.

i don't believe this is a problem of whether the tank setup suitable or not, it's more of a whether your environment is correct or not

do read up on their needs, i hope you have a chiller there. i believe you are using lapis gravel, but many people don't have good results as unlike other gravel eg ADA Amazonia, it doesn't bring down the pH to what CRS needs.

    Hi Bro V200

I would strongly suggest you go thru the Sticky on keeping CRS, there are alot of inforamtion on setting up a new tank and what are the condition that CRS can take. Many expert here have put in alot of effort in putting up guides to newbie like us to start this hobbies, hence don't let it go to waste.

Once you read thru, you can start a thread on your setup and then, forumer here will be very willing to share with you if there are any add on from their own expereince.

Cheers & welcome to CRS keeping.

That is a SAE. Previously I put cherrys in. One of them even stayed on this fish nose. It did not do anything to them.

But my tetras ripped the cherries apart!!

    Thanks for the heads up.

I know the most ideal condition would be to use amazonia gravel or similar, but the throught of tear down everything...... very back breaking! That's why I thought maybe can use existing tank condition.

You guys are right though. But to check my water parameters. Thanks for advice.

This sae is very friendly as well. Cannot bear to remove it as it had been with me for many years. When i had it, it was 2cm. Now, it is about 15cm. As long as it does not harm the crs, i will leave it.

By the way, as mine is a built in filter, would the shrimplets (if i am so lucky) be sucked into the filter? I have seen small shrimps in the filter area before. But in those cases, the shrimps crawled into the compartment. They crawled out again later on. Do you know how to prevent it from happening?
I placed a filter before the inlet area. But that caused the pump to lose pressure and it was unable to pump the water thru the chiller.
