Re: Question on chiller and flowrate

I don't think it will harm your chiller in the short term but if the flow rate is a lot faster than your recommended flow rate, what might happen is that the water won't be cooled sufficiently the first time it goes through the chiller.

This just means your chiller will be running longer than necessary which might result in reduce lifespan of the equipment.

But don't forget that your flowrate will be reduced because your system will have to pump the water through your entire system meaning:

Tank-->Filtration Canister (assuming an external one) --> Chiller --> Back to tank.

So your actual flowrate may be lower depending on how many of these components of the filtration system are above/below, close/far from the tank.

Re: Question on chiller and flowrate

It shouldn't be doing that every few minutes. In my experience, the chiller will run for a long time once you introduce it to the system. But after that it shouldn't turn on more then 1-2 times every hour. Depending on what conditions might make your tank water rise. But every few minutes is definitely not normally. It could be a sign that your water flow is too slow.

It is not normal. You might have chiller not powerful enough to cool the tank.

It is an issue surrounding chiller unless your temperature can drop 1 degree in 3 minutes which is very fast. But it is possible because it is only 1.5 feet. Things can happened quicker.

Re: Question on chiller and flowrate

What is the difference between tank temperature and chiller temperature?

I don't get it? Surrounding of the chiller affects the temperature of what ?

Re: Question on chiller and flowrate

my water temp in tank is 24.9 to 25.. when i set it at 24 degree.
when it kick start at 25degree(show on the chiller).. it stop at 24degree(on the chiller)
but my water temp still remain the same.
i mean the surrounding of the chiller will affect the thermostats also?

No. More like the surrounding of the tank will affect the kick in ...depend how hot, and fast your tank can get.

the surrounding of my tank are ok.. never really affect much on the temperature.
