    Hi,

    As per subject.

I am currently using a Juwel Rio-180 (3ft) as Planted tank. And I am considering if the Juwel tank can be converted to a MArine tank. I am not sure of the glass thickess.

Currently reading up (books/forums/websites)...trying to get more info and trying to be sure..before making the move.

    Thanks!
    Regards,

I have a Juwel tank too (2.5ft). It was being used as Marine tank before I bought it, secondhand. IMO, if Juwel tank cannot stand marine tank, Louhan tank sure cannot man.

I see the problems are the lighting, filter and enclosed space on top of the tank.
Lighting: Is it enougth for corals? May need to add more lights.
Filter : Strong enought for marine?
Enclosed space on top: Need to remove the cover to put in the fans and to include protein skimmer unless you uses chiller.

due to the amt of lights that u might need, i dun recommend having an enclosed cover.. leave it open... the heat can escape better

Thanks KC and kelstorm for the replies.

Glad to know that the tank can 'tahan' [] ... If I do convert to Marine tank.. I will need to get a new set of like.

I was at Pet Safari yesterday... saw that they have a Marine tank setup.. it was a Juwel tank (4ft I think) and they are running two internal filters...

In my case I might use an external filter (Eheim??) instead of an internal one...it takes up precious space.

I was told that the marine tank that they set up using the Juwel tank was to prove to 1 of their customer that Juwel tank indeed can be used as a marine tank.

thickness of the glass is a concern. 8mm? if 6mm might be a bit too thin for comfort.. for me, i use minimum 10mm thru out
