Hey guys! as stated on the thread title, i'm very confused with the different types of lightings i've came across and still don't understand the use for each individual. Any explanation would be really appreciated as i am looking for a new light set for my planted and i've got no idea which is suitable.

    PL - ?
    FL - ?
    NAN - ?
T5 - Which i understand is commonly used.

pl, fl and t5 are different form factors of fluorescent light. all are suitable for planted tanks. you should be looking at 6500k colour temperature as this is close the daylight. the most compact (length) will be pl as the tube is folded back on itself. t5 has smaller diameter compared to fl.
