It is a very natural look and the fishes seem to be happy & showing their colors like in the nature... I suppose! Thanks for sharing. You have certainly shown me the way of fishkeeping. In terms of layout and fish look... you have nailed it..

Thanks, I'm not really happy about the scape yet. I would like to add some more wood in the tank.

    Very nice, especially the rams!!

I'm curious why and how you keep the water so low in pH, KH & GH? Are you doing CO2 injection as well?

I keep the water soft and acid because of the fish that I keep in it and want them to breed in this tank. I use pure osmosis water and use peat in the filter and the oak leaves did the rest to get to this water parameters. I still have to lower the conductivity of the water for the dwarfcichlids. Unfortunately I've lost the female ram. It was an combination of weak species and the just to high conductivity and because they were just a little to thin. The male ram is showing the same symptoms as the female ram and I think this one is going as well. I will keep feeding him good food but I think he is not going to make it. If the male is going as well I will put a Apistogramma species in this tank.

Unfortunately I've also lost the male ram. I am now looking for a new dwarfcichlid and I think I am going for the Dicrossus filamentosus. I've also made some new pictures.

    Re: 80cm South American biotope

That's indeed a Poecilocharax weitzmani. A owner of an aquariumshop that I know had these on his stocklist and I bought them from him. Unfortunately I can't get any more because there aren't available from the exporter. He will let me know when he gets new Poecilocharax. These species where caught along Paracheirodon axelrodi.
