    im having a hard time with hair algae too.
    tried having "black-out" for 3 days straight..
    works for awhile, and the algae came back on

    Check all your water parameters and review your maintenance regimen. This would help you find out why you have algae outbreak. Once you've corrected any problems, then move onto killing/exterminating existing algae (blackout, H2o2, algae eaters..etc).
    I really hate restarting so try to save your tank first..

    Keep hearing Yamato to get rid of algae. Is there any other shrimp alternative like Malayan, sakura, CRS etc? As I find Yamato huge (like lobsters compared to the others) in a small tank.
