    Dear all,

Need some urgent advice on this. Is UV light good or not good for shrimps, particularly CRS. I just bought a small boyu cansister filter for my 35cm tank and just realized it had inbuild UV light for cleaning the water of harmful bacteria. Can I use it as I am afraid it will also kill the good bacteria that is useful for breaking down ammonia/nitrates? Thank you.

It only kill bacteria that pass through the UV sterilizer. good bacteria at filter media will not be affected. By the way, you might be able to turn off the sterilizer independently.
