Can Echinodorus Tenellus (ET) grow without any base soil?

I just have black gravel.
Strong light, CO2 is suffice for good growth?

Do I need to insert fertilizer sticks or equivelant?

you can grow e. tenellus without base soil.
it can get nutrients from the water column.
adding fertilizer sticks will help.

Base soil means the most bottom layer like ADA power sand or base fertilizer like flora base? I think no necessary for Echinodorus Tenellus. I used to have them. They grow madly anyhow.
