    Hi,

Not sure if this is the place to post my questions, if not, would the administrators please help me direct it to the right sub-forum.

I have a few Red Danios bought from LFS. Recently, they have bred and multiplied. I just checked on the internet that these fish were genetically modified from Zebra Danio, and are patented and trademarked under Glofish®. "http://glofish.com/license.html"

I do not know what to do with the fries of the fish now, as I know I am not supposed to release them into natural water bodies, and am unsure if it is ok to sell them.

Anyone knows if I can sell them on the forum here? They seem pretty common in LFS to me though...

If the patent for the fish is legally binding in Singapore, then you are not allowed to sell the fry of the fish for 'commercial' purposes. Understandably, you cannot release them into the local waterways, since they are genetically modified Zebra Danios, which is a non-native species last I recall. Unless your reason to sell the fry is not to profit, then I guess it is fine to offer them for sale or as a gift for a token amount. If in doubt, don't sell the fry unless you are sure you are not infringing on their patent for the fish.

Not all livestock sold in our LFSes are legal to be kept as pets. We have a fair number of supposedly banned species still being traded under a different trade name, and there's even Arowanas out there that are sold without certificates. So do not assume that whatever our LFSes sell, is legal to begin with. The case with Indian Star Tortoises and some wild reptiles (Leopard Geckos etc., snakes) is a good reference just to show that not everything sold locally is allowed under AVA rules.
