anyone got recommendation?
hi guys. i just started rearing shrimps not long ago and my set-up isn't very adequate. i have a 38litre/10gallon tank measuring 44x29x30. i'm currently using a small rainbar filter which is not filtering very well. the water is yellowish and the bottom is filled with dirt. so i was wondering if any shrimp lovers can recommend me a good filter for my tank thanks!
my 100 gallon tank:
- 23 blood parrots
- 2 high-fin plecostomus
my 10 gallon shrimp tank:
- sakura, cherry, malaya, orange, snowball, tiger, bamboo
- 3 otocinclus, 3 assassin snails
anyone got recommendation?

Hi, my tank is almost the same size as yours (mine is 45/30/32). I am using Gex internal filter PF-701, i bought it from SeaView on 9 Aug. Price wise i think not very expensive also.
By the way do you have any driftwood inside your tank? My oscar 3ft tank water is slightly yellowish as i didn't sink my wood before i put into my tank therefore the "tannin?" of the wood caused my tank water to become yellowish. Just my guessing.
hi wingless! thanks for your reply!
is the Gex internal filter able to clean the bottom of the tank? are you using any substrate? and yes, i have 3 pieces of driftwoods. come to think of it, i think you're right. i didn't soak my driftwood before hence the yellowish water. thanks again!

Yup i am using Marfield Contro soil as mine is a planted tank. Personally i don't think my tank base is dirty and the water is quite crystal clear but i do water change weekly (~30%).
ohh.. mine is currently without substrate, but thinking of how to add it in now. how do you go about changing the water? remove and pour in water from the tap?

Erm you can try to read this, this bro has similar case as yours.

i stored 4 bottle of 1.5litre softdrink bottle, add in some anti-chlorine and let the water "aged" for a few days. I top up "aged" water into the tank only after i do water change, though i not sure this is the right method or not but it seems that my shrimp is doing fine.
if your shrimp can survive and breed using normal tap water then i think it's fine for you, but i think better play safe and de-chlorine first before adding the tap water into your precious shrimp tank.
yea, its very sad to see my shrimps go. so its fine to just let the 1.5L age by itself? don't have to cycle it using a filter?

yup.. some said it's fine, just let it age for a few days and then pour slowly into the tank. but i am not quite sure exactly how long do we need to let it age. must ask other bro liao haha.
haha what i often hear is few days, but not exactly sure the number of days. hope some other bros can comment in this thread. wanna know more filters that i can use. lol

btw bro Wingless, how many drops of anti-chlorine do you use for each 1.5L bottle? i'm using a Baxter Laboratory Anti-Chlorine

i am using ocean free "super chlorine & chloramine away".. i just add in 4-5 drips only as it stated 1ml per 50litres haha.. i just use "agaration".. :P
lol mine is 1 tablespoon for every 50litres of new water added. so much diff. maybe cause mine is very inefficient
