Just complete my DIY surface skimmer and hope to share with you all that it works!!!

What I have is an external filter, thus I bought a T-joint and connect it with some pipes and connector at the 'IN' side of the filter until there is one Inlet at the bottom of tank and another at the top (surface).

The pipe at the top have been cut with 10cm groves to allow water go flow thru the groves and the tip have to be just at your tank max water level you wanted. Thus when water level drop, the groves will still enable it to draw in water from the surface.

Point to note - reduce the diameter of the suface skimmer connecting pipe at the T-joint, by using rubber rose or whatever you can find. While the skimmer pipe pipe size should be as big as possible. This is to prevent air from being sucked into the filter via the skimmer.

Will try to do some pics.

This is my trial and error piece, but lucky for me it works so far. No more protein film for me!!!!
