Temp is not so high as recommended for spawning. (heater isn't working I guess..)

Let's see if I'm lucky enough this time to get fry.. Interesting.

Yup, will be more careful the next time. Need to wait another 3 weeks or more.

Not sure if it's lady luck smiling; but my german ram has spawn inside my 4ft community tank the same time I lost my electric blue ram frys in the 1ft cube. Looks like in the range of 80++ eggs. They are in the 4x2x2 community tank with other german rams and blue diamond discus that have spawn as well... too many predators around...

My German ram spawned recently and the fry are free-swimming now around the parents. The parents are very busy trying to keep them around themselves.
Reading the below experience, should I remove the parents? They seems very protective over the fry, in this case, will they eat them up?

Either remove the frys or parent to another tank if you want them to live to see adulthood. Can only look forward to next spawn now. So sad...

Do I need to feed the fry or the parents will take care of it?

FYI, I didnt have to feed my platy fry and they made it. Now about 2cm long. So just wondering if I need to feed the ram fry. If need to, what to feed?
I prefer something commercial as I do not have extra tank.

Hi, congrats to your successful spawn. Each pair behave differently so some bros may have success leaving one parent to fend for the frys but for my case the parent don't seem to hold the frys a live for too long or it could be my tank in the living room have disturbance/movement that spook them into eating the frys. So for my case, separating the fry out would be the better option or at least some of them into a separate tank. Seems the cycle for the electric blue to conceive again is much longer than German ram. My male piece is too stressed out during subsequent spawn and died. So now I'm trying to pair the remaining female with another male, hopefully will work out. For new born fry, can try small amount of hikhari first bite or newly hatch bbs. Good luck and keep us updated.

Re: New born electric blue ram!!

Hi, all my fry did not make it. I dont think it is the parents. I took out some fry in another container and they also died after about 10 days.
I gave them liquid fry food. I was thinking to feed them BBS only after 2 weeks. I thought they might be too small for the BBS but in the end ...

How big must they be before they can start eating BBS? They are so tiny even at 10 days. I agree they are just like dirt in the tank.
