    Hi guys,

    Last week, i checked my PH it was 6.4....it was in my ideal range. Today, i did another check, my Ph increased to 7! Please help with advance on how do i lower the PH to 6.4 again! I believe it was because i lowered my GH and KH.

    My tank is currently stocked with about a 70crs. The shrimps are doing fine. But i would like to encourange some breeding to take place. Is there any safe method that is shrimp friendly and wont result in any casualties?

    Ive done some research online. They recommand the use of Ketapang leaves or peat. May i know if these are effective. I heard they will cause the water to turn brown as well.

    My tank has Co2 running at around 1.5 BPS with ada amazonia soil and ada stones (stated that it wont affect water parameters). I dont see a reason why the PH can increase all a sudden. Do advise if u guys got any speculations as to why the increase may occer.

    Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

    What do u guys think about

    SERA Super peat "sera super peat evenly releases valuable humic acids and trace elements into the aquarium water for a longer period of time. Depending on the current water values, sera super peat decreases the carbonate hardness and the pH value. For a long time, these values constantly remain in the
    slightly acidic range."

    Do u guys recommend the use of this?

    try to add a few piece of boiled driftwood into the tank. driftwood helps to keep ph slightly lower. as for the colouring, just add active charcoal to soak up all the colourings

    Re: HELP with tank's ph!!

    Thanks for the advise eviltrain!

    I found the solution to the problem. As mentioned above, i bought sera's super peat. This stuff works great and is a natural and safe process. My Ph from 7.0 has drop to 6.6 in 2hrs. Shrimps are doing fine and adapting well to the ph change, appetite remains the same and active as usual.

    I bought the 500g package, but i put only 2/3 of it into my hangon filter. You have to rinse the filter netting a few times before putting it in your water as the little debris may cloud the tank badly.

    I hope by sharing my experience, next time if u guys have the similar problem. can try this method. Fast and effective.

    @tofubox,
    Does sera super peat change the colour of the tank water?
